WinFS bites the dust

Frankly I am surprised, but it does suck knowing there probably will never be a feature similar to this anytime soon. But it does seem to follow Balmer's comment about having smaller less complex projects.

But in the grand scheme of things seems like Microsoft is going through quite a bit of changes, hope it is for the better for them and the rest of us.

a month of URGE

So it has been about a month since I had started to use URGE with WMP 11. After my initial annoyance during install, I think just about everthing else is positive. (Except for the occasional freezing, but that can be attributed to being beta)

I have used the iTunes store from Apple, and I have used napster, and the yahoo music unlimited , and I can say for sure right now Urge does beat all of them on the user interface end. It is by the most response application I have used, and considering the backend actually hooks up to a server it is quite impressive. It does dynamic searching (like the apple spotlight or windows desktop search) across your library as well as the urge library.

Music syncing went very well with my zen, although I still would like to manually sync instead of using automatic playlists. The automatic playlists and song suggestions (urge) worked very well to the point where I was creeped out by the computer knowing more about my music tastes than I do.

Radio and online playlists features are my favorite, because while I am working I would rather not worry about what music to play, and have a radio playing. MTV has done a very good job on the playlists so far, although I think Yahoo did a much better dynamic playlist.

Now if only I could convince myself to get that iriver clix :)

My long standing complaint againt all online music and movie stores still stand, which happens to be LET ME VIEW CATEGORICALLY BY LANGUAGE.
